Tuscany is a Sunshine local artist from Buderim. Her new release “Nautica” is now available in most places online. Tuscany has taken some time out to answer a couple of questions.
Nautica means quite a lot to me. Since it’s my first ever single, I wanted to start off with something personal to me. At the time it was very easy to write, and 3 years on when I started to record it, all the memories came rushing back. So it’s very special.
What were you up-to when this song came about?
I was going through a break up at the time and while I was driving along the East Coast the lyrics started rolling in.
What was your intention with “Nautica”?
The intention for Nautica was just to get it out there and I knew it would bring me closure at the same time, sort of like finally closing a finished book.
Does this song have any musical influences?
Not particularly. I love The Paper Kites and John Mayer, but I don’t think it sounds like either of them. I just wanted it to sound like the ocean, music that makes you want to sway. The electric guitar solo definitely makes me feel like I’m underwater.
What is your favourite line or lyric and why?
My favourite line would be, “I’m drowning in memories that are now set in stone” Because for so long I kept having these flashbacks of what it used to be like and it took me a very long time to get those memories to go away and to finally be at peace with.
Do you have any final words?
I just want to say that I’m glad it’s finally out there and since I started recording it, that book of memories and feelings were finally closing.
