Sari Abbott –
‘Burning’ is a song I wrote about how sometimes you fall out of love with someone, whether it be a partner or a friend or anyone in your life. The song takes you on a journey of healing, through the realisation of how the relationship has affected you and how things could have been done differently. I feel the purpose of this song is to assist with healing from a relationship where you have fallen out of love with someone.
What inspired you to write this song?
I had an experience where I fell out of love with my partner at the time, and I was so upset about it because I never intended to hurt them, but I didn’t know how to talk about it. Writing this song in a way was me talking about my feelings and emotions and how I never meant for it to happen but it just did.
When would be a good time to listen to it? What mood does it suit?
It would suit someone realising that it’s okay to fall out of love with someone. The world keeps spinning and life goes on. Can be a sad or happy song.
Is your song about a feeling? what does it mean to you?
I think this song is about love and how you can’t always control who you love and why you love them. It means a lot to me because its how I got through the situation but it’s also very vulnerable.
Does this song have any musical influences?
No not really. I just played a few chords on my guitar and my producer did the rest.
