Mr. Thompson is a Sunshine Coast local band from Coolum Beach. Their EP “Mr. Thompson” is now available in most places online.

The Mr. Thompson EP is not trying to be anything, is just is what it is. I think most people would find something they like in at least one of the four songs…. they cover a range, not deliberately… that’s just the way they played out.
Was this album recorded and put together all in the same place?
Yes, Airlock Studios, mixed and produced by Steve Kempnich.
Were there any musical or writing influences that you had?
I guess everything from my childhood listening to my dads pink Floyd, Hendrix, Dire Straits… to my teenage years with Pearl Jam, Peppers, RATM, and anything that hits hard musically, vocally and has a message.
Any favourite or stand out songs / singles? Why these ones?
Waste Away – strong musically and different to most songs I hear. A strong message that is imploring people to find the simple commonalities we all have in attempt to find better ways to move forward. Another song is ‘Backroads’ – a strong message, but just a good foot stomper.
Did you try and capture any overall mood or theme?
3 songs are are macro level social commentary searching for a common point in which we can all move forward to find better answers. Whilst one song is a very intimate self analysis on the creative process.
