Johnny Mew –
Slow Down is a Song inspired by the Current Climate we live in and is a Song for Peace, Truth, Unity and Freedom. The Chorus is a call to ‘Slow Down, Find your Peace, Recharge Your Batteries, For When in Times, Times of Need’.
What inspired you to write this song?
This is a Song Co-Written and produced with Micheal Barry, a Fellow Musician and Sound Healing Facilitator. We got together to just write in what ever Genre Flowed through and wanted to talk about the Division playing out in Society and Fear perpetuated by the Media. Neither of us had done an Aussie Hip Hop Song before but this Song wrote itself, through us an Conduits for through Provocation but it was also important to have a positive message at the Core. It flowed through in 1 writing session then many hours were put in to get it ‘just right’. We see this reaching a Mainstream Audience across the World.
When would be a good time to listen to it? What mood does it suit?
It’s quite a feel good Song and really a good stress reliever (:>! Although it touches on Heavy Topics, the Feel is ‘Up’.
Is your song about a feeling? what does it mean to you?
The Feeling is one of Hope and Optimism but also a desire to share ans acknowledge TRUTH, not just during this time but also the Bigger picture of what’s happening in Society as we enter a ‘Tech Superpower Age’.
Does this song have any musical influences?
Hilltop Hoods popped to mind and the Verses certainly have an Early Hill Tops Feel with a Bill Withers, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley, Fat Freddie’s Drop type Feel ‘Soul’ Chorus which, we hear Sung in Unison by Big Groups.
