Johnny Mew - Our Love
Jonny Mew Profile
Johnny Mew is a Sunshine local artist from Mount Coolum. His new release “Our Love” is now available in most places online and marks the beginning of his journey as a solo artist. Johnny Mew has taken a seat to answer a couple of questions.
Johnny Mew –
This is a song I’d love as many Aussie parents to hear, to let them know they’re a) not alone and b) to remind them of the simple power of making a date, even if it’s just on the deck outside once the kids are in bed (:>.
What were you up-to when this song came about?
Specifically I was in Noosa, waiting for my boys to finish Jujitsu. I was pondering how far we’d come and as a family and how many families are in the same boat under the pressures of life. How many relationships stretched and the reality of tag team parenting. Not to mention cost of living pressures, renting, moving etc.
What is your intention with this song “Our Love”?
“Our Love” – Is to remind people to take the time to nourish and nurture their relationship, give their love the time amongst busy life. It’s just as much for myself as others yet I knew so many families would relate. I’d like to raise awareness around men’s mental health, sharing emotions in a positive way and the importance of making the time!
What does this song signify to you?
As my first solo single this song will remain very special in my heart. Its also serves a strong reminder for the importance of connection and making the time to nourish and nurture LOVE in my life.
What is your favourite line or lyric and why?
‘We don’t need money to make the time, to nourish and nurture, nurture nurture, OUR LOVE.’ I love it because it’s simple AND true!

Sugarbag Blonde - Stones
Sugarbag Blonde are a Sunshine Coast local band from Caloundra. “Stones” is now available in most places online. Here is the low down as to how this song came about.
Sugarbag Blonde –
Where were you when this song came about? What were you up to?
This was very much a collaborative effort, James our bass player had the bones of the song and a couple verses worked out. We jammed it out and Scott would go away and hone the lyrics, coming back with another verse and a chorus and bridge. Then we work to bring it together.
Does this song have any musical influences?
‘Idle It’s quite eclectic; There 60’s rock influences like ‘The Doors’ then it gravitates into our best take on Seattle Grunge. Dan has this kind of quirky ‘Stevie Wonder’ on steroids with this grinding gnarly Rhodes. The drums swing from Jazz to Rock and Brett seems to meld the two quite seamlessly.
