The song is about a time in my life about five years after I left home to come to Australia. I lived under these two massive pine trees in a house with people who brought me back to the life I lived as a child.
What does this song mean to you?
The song makes me feel happy. I lost my way for a long time and it represents things coming together again.
Where were you when this song came about? What were you up to?
Thinking of a time living back home just south of Dublin in Ireland. I was exploring new tunings on my guitar when I wrote the music for the song.
Does this song have any musical influences?
The guitar part was influenced by practicing the guitar techniques of guitar maestro Daniel Champagne.
What is your favourite line or lyric & why?
‘I know why I left, Don’t know where I arrived. It’s funny to think I thought that I was free’ – When I left home I had this amazing sense for the first time that I was free. Only to find out very quickly that I had tied myself down again very quickly.
