Fiona O’Shea & The Passengers is a Sunshine Coast local band from Doonan. Their new release “Walk like a Giant” is now available in most places online. Here is the low down on how this song came about.
Fiona O’Shea & The Passengers –
Walk like a giant means attitude, perspective, mood and unification. It’s a hug from me to you.
Where were you when this song came about? What were you up to?
I was in my studio, writing… funny that… It was raining (perfect writing weather) and I was sipping peppermint tea. It was one of those songs that came easily and I knew as long as I stood aside, it would pretty much write itself.
Does this song have any musical influences?
It has come from the ethers, that place where expression uses a conduit (me) to form a song. That’s the influence, that’s the sweet spot.
What is the intention with this song?
This song has a positive, all inclusive vibe. No matter your colour, creed or race. “…dare to be different, have no fear. Be bold, be brave like a pioneer. This could be the last frontier”. As in it could be your last lifetime or your last day, so make the most of it and try to be your best version.
What inspired you to create/write this song?
We gig a lot and we see people at their best and at their worst. I wanted to reach out, connect and inspire those of us who might be struggling at the moment to be brave, to be hopeful, to be comfortable with themselves warts and all, no matter what.
Any final words?
I love this EP “Walk like a Giant.” The record has a personality that is rare these days with great songs and a real band feel. It is what music should be. Sequins and neon, faded jeans and vintage tees.
