Dee Cee is a Sunshine Coast local artist. Her song “Fast Lane” is now available in most places online.
This song is the song I wrote once I had left a very unhealthy relationship, as every breakup song starts, I was very down for sometime. This song sparked a new glimmer of hope for me. It was the one thing that has kept me trying to make my dream a reality since my world fell apart.
What is your favourite line or lyric & why?
“You had me stuck in your headwind, it all just kept holding me back. Overtake in the fast lane, see how just where the wind is at.” I feel like this speaks for itself. It was the light bulb moment that I was actually now better off on my own.
Where were you when this song came about? What were you up to??
I was just sitting on my bed pondering my problems at the time! Then oddly enough I had a melody come to my head, jotted down some lyrics and it began to come together.
What is the intention with this song?
It was kind of like having a vent without having a vent. I wrote it because there was obviously a lot on my mind at the time. But I didn’t want to disclose all the details of what had me in such a poor state of mind.
Does this song have any musical influences??
I’m a huge fan of Thomas Rhett, Kelsea Ballerini and Danielle Bradbery. So I think they definitely had some kind of influence there.
